![I heard recently that the two most important needs for a human are to be fully and wholly loved and to be fully and wholly known. Having lost a child, there are things that I feel that not everyone can understand and leaves a lot to be desired on the fully and wholly known side of the equation.
On the eve of Mother’s Day and with Father’s Day on the horizon, it is important to point out that these holidays are not all the Hallmark commercials make them out to be. There are people who feel a hurt similar to ours in that they have children that they cannot hold, hug or see. On the flip side, there are children (of all ages) who can only imagine what their parents would be like or are trying to navigate the new normal without one or both. And a group that knows the hurt of missing both [parent(s) and child(ren)].
As these holidays creep up, say a prayer for the people that fall into any of the categories. Remember how blessed you are if you have both your children and your parents. Call or text someone you know who may be struggling with the holidays to remind them of the fact that they are known and loved by the people in their circle.
We know that only God can fully know and love us, but we also know that we are His hands and feet. The physical manifestation of a God that we cannot see.
To anyone that fits into any of these categories: I love you and pray you are able to find joy in a time you may very well dread.
To the people that have sent extremely thoughtful cards, flowers, gifts and messages: thank you for making this season more manageable. You are simply the best.

Hi!!! I’ve been gone a while. You’re probably thinking: Where’ve you been Ryce? Mannnnn… Living life. Back in April of 2018, I decided to stop posting/blogging until I had something of substance to write about. While I think it’s cool to have you guys see the adventures I stumbled upon, that doesn’t add anything to your life. We all have a purpose and mine is not to post cute pics and funny captions only. I noticed that when I’m transparent, I get the response that I hoped to invoke through social media… and now the blog.
What’s this mean?
My posts are going to be about what my life is like. Yes, there will still be travel, décor and adventure related posts, but with the reflections that I had during each of those experiences. I also plan to document our journey to debt freedom, my fitness routines (I started in October… ain’t no New Year’s resolution here), some #failfoward moments and some pretty cool DIYs (because… I’m Ryce, that’s what I do. Let Jelly tell it, I could have a “Styled by Ryce” segment too. LOL).
Why?
I’ve prayed (especially during #21DaysOfPrayer) a lot about guidance and it always comes back that the TESTS create the TESTIMONY. But what good is a TESTIMONY that no one ever hears? You and me have gone through stuff that would set someone else free, but because of shame, disappointment, or whatever emotion, we don’t share. It’s time to start. That’s why I started this blog in 2013, but the material wasn’t here until now. You guys, I’m very social and very private. That being said, I’m still working through stuff, but realize that this is my opportunity to give my testimonies (and others) to give someone else hope.
I wrote the vision. Now to make it plain. Be A Blessing!
